We’re thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new feature on the SubQuery Network — Consumer Boosting! This exciting addition is now open for public access, marking another significant step in our journey to make SubQuery the best decentralised data indexing service out there.

So, what’s Consumer Boosting all about? It’s a game-changer for both Consumers and Indexers on our network. Consumers (those who need to access and query data from Node Operators) can now boost specific data indexer projects or RPC endpoints by locking tokens against them. This not only provides Consumers with free access to these projects but also ensures that Indexers are efficiently matching the supply of indexing compute with the demand from Consumers.

The best part? Consumer Boosting is seamlessly integrated with our network inflation reward system. It’s the key aspect that controls the allocation of network inflation rewards to project deployments, ensuring an efficient match between supply and demand.

Here’s how it works:

1. Find and Boost a Project: Simply head to the SubQuery Network explorer, find the project you want to boost, and lock your tokens against it. This will give you free request units over time and attract more Node Operators to the project, thanks to a higher cut of rewards from network inflation.

2. Manage Your Boost: Keep track of all your boosted projects and adjust your boost as needed. You’ll be able to view total query rewards and add or remove boosts from each project.

3. Reap the Rewards: The rewards are split into two groups — Allocation rewards for Node Operators and Query rewards for Boosters. As a Booster, you’ll receive free query units for the project deployment you’ve boosted, which can be used within state channels.

Why Boost a Project?

The idea behind Consumer boosting is to allow Consumers an alternative way of bootstrapping projects that they would like to be run across the network. It’s specifically to allow projects to be free to Consumers, while still ensuring that Indexers are best-matching supply of indexing compute with demand from Consumers. You might boost a project:

  • For Free Query: Units if you want to access data without incurring costs.
  • To Attract Node Operators: Project creators can boost their projects to encourage Node Operators to run their infrastructure, making their data more visible in the market.
  • For a More Profitable Project: Node Operators might boost projects they are profitable in to potentially receive more rewards, though this is discouraged.

Remember, boosting a project comes with no direct SQT reward, and there’s no risk to your boosted tokens. You’ll receive the same amount of SQT back when you decide to withdraw your boost. Plus, there’s no penalty or lockup period for shifting your boosted tokens to a different project/deployment.

We’re proud to announce that Consumer Boosting is now open for public access as of today! This launch is a testament to our team’s commitment to delivering on the features and promises outlined in our roadmap. We’re dedicated to continuously enhancing the SubQuery Network, and the introduction of Consumer Boosting is a significant step forward in our mission to make it the best decentralised data indexing service out there.

So, what are you waiting for? Dive into Consumer Boosting today and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to access data more efficiently and cost-effectively on the SubQuery Network! Read more about Consumer Boosting here.
